Pictures sending fails on Facebook Messenger, users say

Xuan Xanh, an office worker in Da Nang City, said that when she sent photos and videos taken from her phone to her friend, Messenger displayed an error message.

She tried sending pictures on her laptop it didn’t work either.

On Facebook groups, a series of users also complained about the same situation.

Meta Platforms Company, owner of Facebook, has not provided an explanation for the cause of the crash.

According to DownDetector, users worldwide started facing issues from around 4:00 p.m. local time, with users expressing their frustration about being unable to send messages, images, and videos.

DownDetector reports also indicate that Meta’s other platforms, Facebook and Instagram, encountered similar problems in the past couple of hours.

In less than a month, the Messenger app has crashed twice. Previously on June 16, Facebook users in Vietnam were also unable to view the content of newly sent messages.

In March, Meta’s service encountered a message recall error. By April, a series of users had their Facebook and Messenger accounts locked for unknown reasons and it took many days to reopen.

In Vietnam, Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular messaging apps. On the App Store, the app ranked fifth in the social media popularity rankings. Messenger has also reached five billion downloads on Google Play.
