HCMC will launch fireworks for Lunar New Year’s Eve on Feb. 10 in three additional locations in Districts 7, Binh Tan and Cu Chi.
Tran The Thuan, director of the HCMC Department of Culture and Sports, on Thursday said the firework shows would last 15 minutes, with funding from multiple sources.
The three new locations would be the administrative center square of District 7, the Binh Tri Dong B neighborhood in Binh Tan District, and the cultural house in Cu Chi District. With the new locations, there will be 11 spots for firework launching in total in the city.
Other locations for the firework shows included the beginning of the tunnel of the Saigon River in Thu Duc City, the Ben Duoc martyr memorial site in Cu Chi District and the Dam Sen Park in District 11.
Launching fireworks is often done during major celebrations and festivals in HCMC, such as National Day on Sept. 2.
For this year’s Tet, the southern metropolis will have light shows and spring festivals in several locations in the city.
