HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Lê Văn Thành has approved the national biodiversity strategy to 2030.
Under the strategy, which has a broader vision to 2050, the Government targets increasing the area of protected ecosystems to 9 per cent of the country’s land area, and protected marine and coastal areas to 3-5 per cent of the total sea area.
Forest coverage is expected to be sustained at 42-43 per cent, and at least 20 per cent of the degraded ecosystem area will be restored.
Priority will be given to the conservation of wildlife species, particularly endangered, rare and precious species of plants and animals.
Major natural ecosystems, endangered species, and precious and rare genetic resources will be restored and preserved.
The strategy sets out key tasks such as intensifying biodiversity conservation and restoration, conserving and restoring endangered wild species, conservation of genetic resources, and protecting biodiversity. — VnExpress News
