The National Assembly passed a resolution to dismiss Nguyen Van The from the transport minister position Friday morning, upon his request.
The dismissal went through with 92% of deputies voting yes.
The, from the southern province of Dong Thap, holds a Ph.D in transportation engineering and science. The 55-year-old was appointed minister of transport at a National Assembly meeting in October 2017.
He told the press in June he was under “a lot of pressure” working as transport minister.
Also in the morning session, the National Assembly approved the dismissal of Tran Sy Thanh as State Auditor General as he has taken new position as Hanoi chairman since July.
The assembly will vote to appoint new people in the positions on Thursday afternoon.
