My wife wants to stay in her parent’s house as I am not financially stable

I am a 32-year-old man, working in the construction industry. My wife and I have been married for more than a year. We don’t have any children.

My work is not stable and I consider that a disadvantage. When we got married, we did not do reproductive healthcare checks though I suggested that we do this. My wife is the same age as me.

Our parents’ houses are only 2 kilometers apart. We lived with my parents when we first got married. However, in the last eight months, she has stayed in her parents’ house. After a conflict, she called her parents and asked to stay there.

In the past, she did mention leaving my parents’ house, but I thought it was not okay since it did not make economic sense, and partly because my family dynamics are complicated. I am the only child in the family, with a brother from the same father and a different mother.

My parents are over 75 years old and they don’t get along very well, partly due to my father’s personality. My wife lived with my family but she didn’t fulfill her daughter-in-law’s obligations. We don’t eat together with my parents. She always gets food from her parent’s house, claiming she is too busy.

After she returned to her parent’s house, I went there many times to ask her to return to my home. She refused to go back, saying that I don’t have a stable financial life and there would be no future. She said she does not want to go back to my family. She has filed for divorce, and asked me to agree. I still love my wife a lot.

Please give me some advice, readers.
