ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city of Đà Nẵng officially put a multi-level road section into operation after two years of construction, easing congestion between Đà Nẵng International Airport and a beach tourism sites in Sơn Trà and Ngũ Hành Sơn districts.
The project, which included a flyover, a tunnel and ground traffic at the busy junction west of the Trần Thị Lý Bridge with a total investment of VNĐ723 billion ($31 million), has added a third traffic tunnel, after a tunnel at West Hàn River bank intersection and another at the junction of Điện Biên Phủ, Nguyễn Tri Phương and Lê Độ streets.
The tunnels are part of the 2014 sustainable transport master plan.
The central city’s transport works management board said the new section was a key part of infrastructure projects dealing with traffic in the tourism hub’s busiest junctions.
Đà Nẵng citizens make 2.1 million journeys a day, of which 80 per cent are via motorbike. The third-largest city in Việt Nam has made significant investments in urban development, aiming to become a ‘green’ and ‘smart’ city by 2025.
It has boosted co-operation with the Word Bank by developing a series of key infrastructure projects, including the Hàn River Crossover, the Đà Nẵng International Airport tunnel, the Railway Relocation and Integrated Urban Renewal project, smart traffic system, the metro, tramway and monorail.
The WB has funded many key infrastructure projects in Đà Nẵng with more than $500 million over the past two decades, with residents benefiting from advanced infrastructure services in the sustainable city. — VnExpress News
