Money and fame ‘won’t change me’: Al Nassr footballer’s teenage wife

Star footballer Sadio Mane’s 19-year-old wife Aisha Tamba says that she won’t let money and fame change her after marrying the Senegalese star earlier this month.

“I am looking forward to my new life and I know that it will be very different. But I do not feel any pressure because Sadio’s fame and money will not change me. This is not what I’m interested in. I will remain a humble person committed to my faith,” Tamba told Daily Mail earlier this week.

Mane, 31, tied the knot with Tamba on Jan. 7 in Keur Massar, a suburb in the capital city of Dakar, Senegal, to everyone’s surprise.

The former Liverpool star is now playing for Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, earning a whopping £650,000 ($821,800) a week, flying in private jets, and living in a ten-room mansion provided by the club.

That life is night and day different from what Tamba is used to.

She lives in a shabby area of Dakar, in a house with up to 30 relatives that is opposite a swamp, located along a rough dirt road full of litter and goats running around, Daily Mail reported.

Tamba is expected to join Mane in Saudi Arabia this year after she finishes her final school exams.

The couple won’t be going on honeymoon as Mane is currently captaining Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast until Feb. 11.

Mane was nurtured at the Generation Foot training academy in Dakar and started his career in Europe with the French club Metz. He later played for Red Bull Salzburg, made his name with Southampton, and rose to stardom at Liverpool.

While playing for Liverpool from 2016 to 2022, he won many titles, including the Champions League and the Premier League. After that, Mane played for Bayern Munich for one season before moving to Saudi club Al-Nassr, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

Outside of football, Mane is known for his philanthropic work such as building a school and hospital in his hometown, as well as donations to several charity organizations in Senegal.
