The U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry is expected to visit Vietnam from Sep. 2 to 6 to address the climate crisis, the Department of State announced.
Kerry would travel to Ho Chi Minh City from Sep. 2 to 4, then Hanoi from Sep. 4 to 6 to meet government officials, business leaders and civil society representatives. The visit would include addressing the climate crisis and accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy.
He has already traveled to Greece to meet with government counterparts on efforts to reduce emissions and decarbonize ocean-based shipping, etc.. His next destination from Aug. 30 to Sep. 1 is Indonesia, where he would further enhance cooperation on the climate crisis.
During his visit to Hanoi in February, Kerry had met with President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and promised that the U.S. stood ready to assist Vietnam in reviewing and adjusting its strategies and planning for the goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
