Yoshiharu Jin, director of Iiyama Seiki Vietnam, has been shunted out of the country for using the image of scissors at a person’s neck in a dismissal notice.
Tadashi Terasaka, chairman and general director of the Japanese-invested precision machinery manufacturer, apologized to all employees for the rude image.
The management board of Hai Phong Economic Zone, where the company is located, cited Terasaka as saying Jin has been transferred back to the parent company in Japan.
Trinh Quang Vinh and Nguyen Van Thuan, employees of Iiyama Seiki Vietnam at the VSIP industrial park in Hai Phong’s Thuy Nguyen District, submitted their resignations to the company leaders on September 23 and this was accepted the same day.
But Jin posted a message on company’s bulletin board with an attached picture showing a hand holding a pair of scissors ready to cut off a man’s head.
The message said the employees had “very poor labor skills, no prospects of improvement; did not fulfil their duties as required by labor regulations.”
The attached image outraged many workers who filed a complaint with the company’s management board.
The Japanese director responded with a letter of apology, promising that the mistake will not be repeated.
Iiyama Seiki Vietnam was founded in 2012 and has 85 employees, according to the mother company’s website.
