Hot sunny days return to northern Vietnam

As a low-pressure system weakens, rain in northern Vietnam will mostly concentrate in the northwest on Monday, with rainfall levels reaching up to 70 mm, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

Starting Monday, the northeast and the plains of northern Vietnam will experience dry weather. By Wednesday, hot and sunny conditions, with temperatures rising to 36 degrees Celsius, are expected in the southern parts of Son La, Hoa Binh and the northern plains. The heat will then extend to all of northern Vietnam, lasting until the end of Aug. 10.

U.S. weather service AccuWeather predicts that Hanoi’s temperatures will range from 27 to 35 degrees until Wednesday, before gradually increasing to 28 to 38 degrees from Thursday through the weekend. High-altitude areas like Sa Pa in Lao Cai will see temperatures between 18 and 26 degrees earlier in the week, rising to 28 degrees by Saturday.

In central Vietnam, a low-pressure area to the west will bring hot sunny days to regions from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa. Starting Monday, as the low-pressure area strengthens, the heat will extend to areas from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh.

The coastal parts of regions like Thanh Hoa, and areas from Nghe An to Khanh Hoa, will experience high temperatures reaching up to 39 degrees.

In the south and the Central Highlands, the monsoon winds are not very strong, resulting in fewer areas with heavy rain. Daytime temperatures in the south will range from 33 to 35 degrees, and 29 to 32 degrees in the Central Highlands.
