Hoa Phat chairman rejoins billionaire list


Tran Dinh Long, chairman of steel maker Hoa Phat, has got back the world billionaire list 9 days after falling of the list.

According to Forbes’s The Real-Time Billionaires List, Long’s assets increased in value by $146 million in just 24 hours to $1.2 billion on Friday. He is listed as the world’s 2,234th richest person.

HPG of Hoa Phat Group reached VND15,100 ($0.61) on the same day, up 23.77% in the past 4 days. Market capitalization of Vietnam’s largest steel corporation reached VND87.8 trillion ($3.53 billion).

Tran Dinh Long became the first Vietnamese businessman to slip out of Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List after his assets’ value shrank to $958 million on November 9.

Long was followed by Bui Thanh Nhon, chairman of Nova Group, after his assets’ value fell to $978.2 million on November 10.

In April, the 2022 Forbes list of the planet’s richest people featured the highest-ever number of Vietnamese billionaires at seven – a woman and six men worth $21.2 billion collectively.

The Vietnamese billionaires were Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of private conglomerate Vingroup; Nguyen Phuong Thao, CEO of budget carrier Vietjet Air; Ho Hung Anh, chairman of lender Techcombank; Tran Ba Duong, chairman of Truong Hai Auto Corporation; Nguyen Dang Quang, chairman of private conglomerate Masan Group, Tran Dinh Long and Bui Thanh Nhon.
