Health ministry proposes scrapping vaccination certificate for foreign entrants

The Ministry of Health is seeking opinions for its proposal that foreigners entering Vietnam don’t need to furnish a Covid-19 vaccination or recovery certificate.

Under the ministry’s draft plan, those entering by air only have to present a negative Covid test result using the RT-PCR method within 72 hours before departure, or 24 hours via rapid antigen tests, except children under 2.

They would be exempt from testing after arrival but must comply with pandemic prevention measures as regulated by Vietnamese authorities, including wearing masks.

All arrivals must make medical declarations and use the PC-Covid application during their stay in Vietnam.

At border gates, people with symptoms of Covid-19 infection like fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, stuffy nose, body pain, fatigue, chills, and difficulty breathing should report to medical staff.

Children under two years old are not required to test for Covid while children who have not been fully vaccinated or have not yet been infected with Covid are allowed to join outdoor activities with their parents.

Under current regulations, fully vaccinated people and those who have recovered from Covid-19 need to self-isolate for three days after arriving in Vietnam while unvaccinated people have to self-isolate for seven days and be tested twice during this period.
