Hanoi taxi driver gets two wheels on sidewalk to move faster

Having no space to pass, a taxi driver decided to move two wheels on a sidewalk of a Hanoi street, to half-drive on the pavement.

The incident took place on Thanh Nien Street in downtown Hanoi on the afternoon of Jan. 26 and was captured on a dash camera of a car moving behind the taxi.

According to government penalties on traffic violations, a fine of VND4-6 million (US$164-246) can be imposed on those driving on the sidewalk, except for cases of driving through the sidewalk to enter a house.

At the same time, the driver’s license can be revoked for 1-3 months.

Drivers of motorbikes, including electric motorbikes climbing curbs and sidewalks can be fined VND400,000-600,000.
