Vietnam’s foreign ministry expressed hope and trust that Fulbright University Vietnam’s activities will continue to contribute to the development of the Vietnam-U.S. friendly and cooperative relationship
Fulbright University Vietnam is a result of educational cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S., particularly in the field of high-quality human resources training, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said on Monday.
In response to a reporter’s query about Fulbright University Vietnam’s activities, Hang said Vietnam welcomes its activities, as affirmed in the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-U.S. relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023.
“We hope and believe that Fulbright University Vietnam will continue to make practical contributions to the development of the growing friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S.”, she said.
The Fulbright University Vietnam was established in 2016 and located in HCMC’s Hi-tech area.
The Fulbright University Vietnam on Aug. 14 released a statement on its official Facebook account, saying “some inaccurate and inflammatory statements regarding the university and the Fulbright community, often expressed in vulgar language, have circulated on social media platforms”.
The university said such statements were “disinformation” that spreads false information about the school.
Previously, certain social media accounts uploaded photos of the school’s graduation parade ceremony with the motto “Fearless” in June. The event sparked controversies as it was assumed that there were no Vietnamese national flags present during the event.
“Fulbright University Vietnam strongly condemns the intentional spread of false information and the hurt that it can cause to individuals involved,” the school said.
