A former teacher in the central Ha Tinh Province was sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping a 6th grader at a summer extra class.
Le Dung Cuong, 42, was charged with “raping a person under 16,” the Ha Tinh People’s Court said Tuesday.
Cuong, an English teacher, provided extra classes at his home during this year’s summer vacation for certain students. At around 2 p.m. on June 20, Cuong invited one of the students to another room and raped her.
The girl later told her friends what happened. Cuong turned himself in the same night.
Those charged with raping a person under 16 may receive a sentence from seven years in jail to death.
