Former police officer jailed for raping three girls

Nguyen Duy Linh, a former senior lieutenant, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a person under 16, and three years for molesting a person under 16, Dong Nai People’s Court sentenced on Tuesday.

In March 2022, three girls aged 13-15 came to the police of Phu Tan Commune in Dinh Quan District to report a Facebook account that threatened to release sensitive videos and images online. Linh was assigned to the task.

Over the next two months, he met with the girls multiple times and raped and molested them in the police station’s bedroom. He also called the girls multiple times to local motels to perform the acts, even raping many at a time and recording videos.

Raping a person under 16 in Vietnam is punishable by death, while molesting a person under 16 may result in sentences of up to 12 years.
