The U.S. dollar shoots up over the Vietnamese dong at commercial banks Tuesday but continued to fall on the black market.
Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND24,250 Tuesday, up 0.75% from Monday.
Eximbank sold the greenback at VND24,220, up 0.62%. TPBank set the rate 0.41% higher at VND24,400.
Techcombank, however, let the dollar slide by 0.33% to VND24,210.
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s reference rate remained unchanged at VND23,658.
The dollar is sold at VND24,500 on the black market, down 0.61%.
The greenback has gained over the dong by 5.80% since the beginning of the year.
The U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the greenback’s strength against major currencies, hovers around 150 points, lowest since August.
