The U.S. dollar inched down against the Vietnamese dong at both banks and unofficial exchange points Thursday.
Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND23,820 Thursday, down 0.17% from Wednesday.
Eximbank sold the greenback at VND23,810, 0.13% lower.
The rate at Techcombank is VND23,850, down 0.04%, and at ACB is VND23,900, down 0.42%.
The State Bank of Vietnam set its reference rate at VND23,636, a 0.02% decrease.
The dollar is sold at VND24,010 on the black market, down 0.37%.
The greenback has gained over the dong by 4.14% since the beginning of the year.
The U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the greenback’s strength against major currencies, was down 0.27% to 103.89 points, continuing its decline from over 114 points in September last year.
