The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong on the black market Monday morning.
Unofficial exchange points sold the greenback 0.13% higher from Sunday at VND23,530.
Most banks kept the dollar unchanged.
Vietcombank sold it at VND23,650, Eximbank VND23,630, and Techcombank VND23,700.
The State Bank of Vietnam kept its reference rate stable at VND23,693.
The dollar has decreased against the dong by 0.34% since the beginning of the year.
Globally the dollar gained 0.5% on Friday and stay elevated at 104.16 against its peers early on Monday, Reuters reported.
The greenback jumped 0.8% on Japanese yen to 139.94 while the euro eased 0.5% to $1.0706.
The Australian dollar was an outperformer against a strong greenback, up 0.5% to $0.6605, on bets that the Reserve Bank of Australia will have to raise rates higher and for longer on domestic wage pressures.
