HÀ NỘI — The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission convened its 14th meeting from April 19-20, discussing and announcing conclusions on a number of issues, including signs of violations seen in the Standing Board of the Saigon Co.op’ s Party Committee during the 2015-2020 tenure.

Discussing the inspection results of violations committed by Diệp Dũng, former Party Committee Secretary at Saigon Co.op and former chairman of its board of directors, the commission found that the Party Committee of Saigon Co.op violated the principle of democratic centralism and working rules, showed a lack of responsibility, loose leadership and directions, supervision, and monitoring, leading to its boards of directors, Management Board and many officials and Party members violating the Party’s regulations and the State’s laws regarding the signing of investment cooperation contracts, capital mobilisation, increase in charter capital and organisation of the congress.

Dũng was found to have violated Party regulations and State laws as well other regulations not permitted by Party members.

The above-mentioned violations had left serious consequences and caused great losses in capital and assets, causing public anger and negatively impacting the prestige of the Party organisation and Saigon Co.op. They were so serious that disciplinary measures needed to be taken, the commission underlined.

The commission decided to issue disciplinary measures against the Standing Board of the Saigon Co.op’ s Party Committee during the 2015-2020 tenure and Nguyễn Thành Nhân, former deputy Party Committee Secretary and former Director-General of Saigon Co.op as well as give punishments to a number of officials and Party members involved in the case.

It proposed the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat consider and give punishments to Diệp Dũng, former chairman of the board of directors of Saigon Co.op.

Established in 1989, the Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives, or Saigon Co.op, has more than 20 member co-operatives and over 800 stores nationwide, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, and Co.opSmiles.

At the meeting, the inspection commission also decided to punish a number of officials and Party members of the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Bình Thuận Province from the 2015-20 tenure for their violations of the Party’s regulations and the State’s laws regarding land management and use during the implementation of a number of projects. Their violations were discussed at the 12th meeting of the commission last month.

Considering the proposal from central Khánh Hoà Province’s Party Committee, the inspection commission asked the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee to punish some former senior officials of Khánh Hoà, including the former directors of the provincial departments of natural resources and environment, construction, and planning and investment, for violating Party’ regulations and the State laws. They were found to consult the provincial People’s Committee to issue a number of illegal decisions relating to the Cửu Long Sơn Tự ecological and spiritual tourism project and the Vĩnh Trung villa project in Khánh Hoà.

The commission also considered a number of other important issues. — VnExpress News
