Destinations that tourists never want to return to

Tourists have shared a list of travel hotspots they’d never return to in a forum discussion on social media platform Reddit, with Cairo, Florida, Rome, and Dubai being heavy criticized.

Many netizens slammed Egypt’s Cairo for “being ruined by scammers.”

“Cairo, Egypt. Never again will I go there. Sure the pyramids are beautiful, but the scammers and touts ruin the experience,” a Reddit user named Cheat-Meat wrote.

Another tourist said he was locked in a perfume shop in Egypt and was forced to buy something before leaving there but he eventually gave up and was a bit scary at the time.

India also sparked complaints of “constant harassment and disrespect” and being “stared at, hounded and groped,” according to Reddit users.

‘India. No amount of love for curry could ever drag me there again,” Reddit account Thecwestions wrote.

This discussion was kicked off by Reddit user Affordable Traveler, who asked: “What’s one place you’ll never travel to again?”

User Darabtrfly described the U.S.’s Florida as a “hot, gross, scuzzy tourist trap” though it has amazing landscapes.

Monaco, famous for its grand casinos, giant shopping centers, opulent bars and clubs, was also complained by tourists.

A user called Tazdevil64 wrote: “Monaco! The public restrooms at the palace were absolutely filthy! At the Monte Carlo casino, the dealers and employees paid no attention to you if you weren’t a regular, or very obviously wealthy.”

Switzerland is praised for its natural beauty but netizens complained about its expensive costs.

“The cheapest dinner we had was about $150 and most were over $200. Thirty-minute train rides or lifts to the mountains cost $130 per person,” Reddit user Joecooool418 wrote.

In this year’s Cost of Living Survey released by American consulting firm Mercer, four cities in Switzerland: Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Bern dominated the list of 10 most expensive places in the world.

Meanwhile, a Reddit user named Gre209by said Rome was too crowded and hot during the peak summer season.

Dubai, famous for its modern architecture and skyscrapers, was blacklisted by user robot2084tron as “a giant tourist trap” while Jamaica, an island country in the Caribbean Sea, was criticized for “outrageous scams” and being “ketchy.”

“I agree with Jamaica. Sketchy stoned guy followed us for blocks standing one foot away staring at me and people in the market would grab my arm trying to get me to look at things,” said a user named aeb3.
