Designer promotes Vietnamese culture at Bangkok Design Week

Phan Anh Tuan has launched his new collection at Bangkok Design Week in Thailand, which promoted Vietnamese culture through fashion.

Tuan is the only representative of Vietnam to participate in Bangkok Design Week from Feb. 4-12, an art event in Thailand.

The designer has cleverly integrated images of apricot blossoms, lotuses, roses and peonies to express opulence and prosperity.

In order to fully capture love, traditional values and national identity in this collection, Tuan focused carefully on every detail. He used traditional Vietnamese materials such as silk, brocade and woven fabric, combined with sophisticated handicraft techniques such as embroidery, crocheting, and weaving.

The fabric is inlaid with real gold and with feathers attached to the surface.

Some of the designs were also worn by Thai models. Tuan said that before the show, he had spoken with the models so that they could understand the spirit of the collection and express it to the fullest.

He feels satisfied when he can promote Vietnamese culture in general and Vietnamese fashion in particular to the world.

“I feel very honored to represent Vietnam in this event and to promote the culture of my homeland to everyone,” Tuan told the Thanh Nien newspaper. “As a perfectionist, I have been very careful in choosing Thai models, as I need them to know how to have facial expressions that match the spirit of the collection. That is also one of the factors that helped ‘Eternal Passion’ shine in Thailand.”

The 2023 Bangkok Design Week also featured designers from Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia and China. After this event, Tuan said he will continue to promote Vietnamese cultural values to young people.
