The National Assembly approved the dismissal of Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai at an extraordinary session on Monday.
The Central Party Committee dismissed Khai as its secretary and member on Aug. 3, saying he had violated Party regulations and anti-corruption laws, as well as other violations while performing his duties.
Khai, 60, had served as deputy chief of the State Audit, chairman of the Bac Lieu Province People’s Committee, and Secretary to the Bac Lieu Party Committee.
In October 2017, Khai was appointed Inspector-General of the Government Inspectorate before becoming deputy PM in April 2021. He oversaw finance and economic matters during his tenure.
He received a warning from the Politburo for his violatons on Aug. 13.
The National Assembly on Monday also dismissed Dang Quoc Khanh from his position as Minister of National Resources and Environment for violations against Party regulations, anti-corruption laws, and violations while performing his duties.
Both Khai and Khanh had previously submitted their resignation from assigned positions.
