Đắk Lắk overtakes Hà Nội with most new COVID cases

HÀ NỘI — The Central Highlands province of Đắk Lắk surpassed Hà Nội as the locality with the most new daily COVID infections on Thursday, with 1,251. It is the first time the capital has not been first in almost five months.

A total of 3,949 cases were registered nationwide. All the new transmissions were domestic, with 3,294 detected in the community.

After Đắk Lắk, Hà Nội had 509 infections and Bắc Ninh 346.

The other new transmissions were found in Nghệ An (168), Phú Thọ (121), Vĩnh Phúc (109), Quảng Ninh (97), Yên Bái (92), Tuyên Quang (86), Bắc Kạn (76), Thái Bình (75), Quảng Bình (63), Hải Dương (62), Lào Cai (62), Lâm Đồng (57), Thái Nguyên (51), Đà Nẵng (51), Hồ Chí Minh City (49), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (43), Hưng Yên (40), Hà Nam (38), Đắk Nông (36), Quảng Trị (34), Lai Châu (33), Nam Định (32), Hòa Bình (32), Ninh Bình (25), Bình Phước (25), Bình Dương (23), Hà Tĩnh (22), Lạng Sơn (21), Gia Lai (20), Cao Bằng (20), Hà Giang (20), Hải Phòng (18), Sơn La (17), Thanh Hóa (14), Quảng Ngãi (13), Khánh Hòa (13), Điện Biên (10), Bình Định (10), Phú Yên (10), Bắc Giang (10), Đồng Tháp (7), Tây Ninh (7), Vĩnh Long (7), Bến Tre (7), Kiên Giang (5), Hậu Giang (4), Thừa Thiên Huế (2), Đồng Nai (2), Trà Vinh (1), Long An (1), Bình Thuận (1) and Cà Mau (1).

Quảng Ninh Province’s Department of Health on Thursday registered an additional 2,550 infections on the COVID-19 National Case Management System after reviewing and supplementing new case information.

The national caseload since the start of the pandemic now stands at 10,690,471. In the past week, the country saw an average of 3,024 new infections daily.

There were three COVID-related deaths, all in Đắk Lắk.

The total number of COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam is now 43,063, or 0.4 per cent of total infections.

A further 7,441 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,334,964 since the start of the pandemic.

More than 216.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country so far, of which over 2.1 million have been given to children aged 5 to 11. — – VnExpress News
