Daily caseload below 1,000 for the first time since July

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s daily caseload of new COVID infections has fallen below 1,000, for the first time since July 5, 2021. 

There were 890 new COVID-19 infections recorded on Sunday. 

The new infections were reported in 39 out of 63 provinces and cities across the country, in Hà Nội (282), Yên Bái (67), Nghệ An (60), Quảng Ninh (46), Vĩnh Phúc (40), Tuyên Quang (39), Phú Thọ (30), Thái Nguyên (30), Đà Nẵng (25), Thái Bình (25), Hòa Bình (21), Lào Cai (21), Quảng Bình (20), TP. Hồ Chí Minh (18), Hải Phòng (16), Sơn La (16), Quảng Trị (15), Hà Giang (12), Hà Tĩnh (12), Lai Châu (10), Điện Biên (9), Hải Dương (9), Nam Định (8 ), Lâm Đồng (8 ), Hưng Yên (8 ), Lạng Sơn (6), Thanh Hóa (6), Bắc Kạn (5), Hà Nam (5), Thừa Thiên Huế (5), Ninh Bình (3), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (3), Bình Định (2), Gia Lai (2), Bình Phước (2), Cao Bằng (1), Tây Ninh (1), Bến Tre (1) and Đồng Tháp (1).

Việt Nam’s overall total number of COVID cases is now 10,717,251. The seven-day average of new daily cases is 1,195.

A total of 8,438 cases were given the all-clear on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries in Việt Nam to 9,448,352.

There are currently 189 people in a serious or critical condition.

As no new COVID-19 related fatalities have been recorded over the past 24 hours, the country’s death toll remains at 43,078, or 0.4 per cent of the caseload. 

Sunday is the fourth day in a row that Việt Nam has reported no new COVID-19 related deaths. 

A total of 220,720,278 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to date in Việt Nam, including over 199 million for adults, 17.46 million for children aged 12-17 years, and 4.15 million for children aged 5-11 years. — VNS
