Da Nang beauty queen crowned Miss Vietnam 2022

Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, a 19-year-old student from Da Nang, was crowned the winner of the Miss Vietnam 2022 competition in HCMC on Friday night.

Thuy beat 35 other finalists to win the prize of VND350 million ($14,840). She is a student at the University of Foreign Language Studies in Da Nang.

One of the competition’s questions asked Thuy how she would navigate in a world with 8 billion people.

“On November 15, 2022, the world reached a population of 8 billion people and I was wondering if I would feel small in this world among that many people,” her answer began.

“But I believe that with my effort, patience and faith in myself, I can bring great value to the world,” she concluded.

The 2022 Miss Vietnam finals included performances in traditional ao dai (top 35 competitors), swimsuits (top 20), evening gowns (top 10) and the Q&A section “beauty with a purpose” (top 5).
