COVID-19 cases surpass more than 9 million on Sunday

HÀ NỘI — Since the very first COVID-19 case was reported in Việt Nam more than two years ago, more than 9 million people have now been infected.

On Sunday, 91,916 cases were recorded – continuing the drop in new infections over the past week.

But since COVID first emerged into the world, Việt Nam has now had a total of 9,003,762 infections.

Although Hà Nội sill topped the list with 10,252 cases, it’s half as many as was recorded in the capital this time last week.

The remaining cases were found in Bắc Giang (3,997), Yên Bái (3,977), Nghệ An (3,976), Đắk Lắk (3,909), Phú Thọ (3,638), Lào Cai (3,430), Lạng Sơn (3,121), Thái Bình (2,798), Vĩnh Phúc (2,768), Quảng Ninh (2,553), Hà Giang (2,518), Quảng Bình (2,501), Thái Nguyên (2,435), Sơn La (2,206), Tuyên Quang (2,092), Cao Bằng (1,829), Bắc Kạn (1,786), Hải Dương (1,778), Bình Định (1,705), Cà Mau (1,660), Hưng Yên (1,493), Bình Dương (1,486), Quảng Trị (1,478), Hà Nam (1,432), Bắc Ninh (1,416), Lâm Đồng (1,370), Điện Biên (1,248), Lai Châu (1,231), Hòa Bình (1,197), Vĩnh Long (1,177), Bến Tre (972), Bình Phước (959), Ninh Bình (917), Tây Ninh (872), TP. Hồ Chí Minh (849), Phú Yên (761), Đắk Nông (754), Kon Tum (750), Đà Nẵng (743), Thừa Thiên Huế (681), Nam Định (655), Trà Vinh (626), Thanh Hóa (618), Quảng Ngãi (591), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (583), Khánh Hòa (403), Hải Phòng (339), Quảng Nam (320), Bình Thuận (205), Bạc Liêu (173), Kiên Giang (148), Long An (146), An Giang (116), Cần Thơ (90), Đồng Nai (81), Ninh Thuận (31), Hậu Giang (27), Đồng Tháp (20), Sóc Trăng (15), and Tiền Giang (14).

As of Sunday, 3,447 patients are in serious or critical condition, with the majority requiring oxygen support, 295 requiring invasive ventilation and five on life support.

The country reported an additional 48 COVID-related fatalities, raising the death toll since the pandemic started to 42,306, accounting for 0.5 per cent of transmissions.

The deaths were in Đồng Nai (6), Đắk Lắk (5), Quảng Ninh (4), An Giang (3), Hà Tĩnh (3), Kiên Giang (3), Bạc Liêu (2), Bến Tre (2), Bình Dương (2), Cà Mau (2), Quảng Bình (2), Thái Nguyên (2), Bắc Giang (1), Bình Phước (1), Điện Biên (1), Gia Lai (1), Hà Nội (1), Hải Dương (1), Lâm Đồng (1), Lạng Sơn (1), Ninh Bình (1), Phú Yên (1), Sóc Trăng (1), and HCM City (1).

In total, 185,861 COVID patients made a full recovery taking the total number of patients given the all-clear to 5,351,978.

More than 205.1 million COVID vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far, including 187.8 million for adults.A total of 17.1 million vaccine doses have been given to children aged 12-17 years. — VnExpress News
