Football agent Lee Dong-jun has sent a proposal to V. League club Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) to let former Vietnam national coach Park Hang-seo be its technical director.
The proposal also recommended Park’s assistant Lee Young-jin to be the club’s head coach.
Park will only take a technical director position instead of a head coach, as he has signed a deal to open a football academy in Vietnam, which is expected to launch in April.
A representative of CAHN confirmed receiving the proposal but said that the club are not interested in it, adding that the two sides have not started negotiations.
CAHN is the rookie of V-League this season. The club garnered attention after recruiting a series of quality players, including many national players such as Doan Van Hau, Phan Van Duc, Ho Tan Tai and Vu Van Thanh. After a big 5-0 win against Binh Dinh in the opening game, the club lost to Hanoi FC and Viettel FC and drew against HAGL. CAHN are currently eighth in the league, which puts coach Paulo Foiani under a lot of pressure.
Park Hang-seo is the most successful coach in the history of Vietnamese football. Under his lead, Vietnam won second place at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, the 2018 AFF Cup title, a place in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Asian Cup, two SEA Games gold medals in 2019 and 2021. He also helped the team advance to the final qualification round of the World Cup for the first time in history.
His contract expired at the end of January and he decided not to renew it.
In the final tournament under his lead, Vietnam lost the 2022 AFF Cup title to Thailand in the final.
