BÌNH DƯƠNG — Around 205 paintings and sculptures by 172 artists from the southeast region are on display at the Museum of Bình Dương Province in Thủ Dầu Một City.

The annual exhibition entitled Triển Lãm Mỹ Thuật Khu Vực Đông Nam Bộ (Art Exhibition of Southeast Region) is organised by the Việt Nam Fine Arts Association and the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The event aims to introduce new works by artists from the provinces of Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu, Bình Phước, Bình Thuận, Đắk Nông, Đồng Nai, Lâm Đồng, Ninh Thuận, Tây Ninh and Bình Dương, contributing to promoting their inspiration and developing fine arts in the region.

The showcase includes art works made of different materials including oil, lacquer, watercolour, wood, stone and copper, featuring surrealist, abstract, semi-abstract and impressionistic styles.

All the works reflect various topics such as the country’s beauty and lifestyle, traditional and cultural values, and socio-economic achievements. Portraits and still lifes are featured as well.

“After a year of hard work, artists from the southeast bring their best works to the exhibition. It is also an opportunity for the artists to meet and share their experiences in art creation,” Ngô Phước Chánh, deputy chairman of the Bình Dương Literature and Arts Association, said.

Chánh added that the 2024 exhibition received 303 art works by 202 artists.

The organisers gave first prize to Nguyễn Hoài Huyền Vũ for a sculpture made of iron and wood named Kén (Cocoon), and second prize to Phạm Thị Hồng Xuyến for an oil painting called Chăm Chỉ (Hardworking). Both artists are from Bình Dương.

The exhibition is open daily until August 16. — VNS
