486 ha of forest to be felled in Central Highlands for building highway

Authorities in Lam Dong Province in the Central Highlands said they plan to use 486 hectares of forests for building a highway.

On Monday they inspected forests in Bao Loc Town, Bao Lam, Di Linh, and Duc Trong districts to identify the areas through which the Bao Loc-Lien Khuong Highway could pass.

The construction, expected to begin at the end of this year, would affect 486 hectares of forest.

The highway between Bao Loc town and the Lien Khuong-Prenn Highway, will run 73 km, have four lanes and cost VND11.3 trillion ($497.1 million).

It will be built in public-private partnership mode.

The construction is expected to take 24 months and the highway is likely to open to traffic in 2025.

The highway, along with the Dau Giay-Tan Phu Highway and Tan Phu-Bao Loc Highway, which are expected to be completed at around the same time, will help ease traffic on National Highway 20.
