HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam has requested that ministries, agencies and localities create the best conditions to accommodate Vietnamese nationals living abroad who wish to return to Việt Nam.

In a dispatch issued on Monday, he requested the agencies and localities to strictly follow the direction of the Prime Minister regarding the resumption of regular international commercial flights, and creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to return home.

For those who are unable to return home via commercial flights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was assigned to work with ministries, agencies and localities to report to the Prime Minister on policies and measures to protect and ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.

From January 31 to February 7, foreign airlines conducted 36 regular and irregular flights, transporting 2,055 Vietnamese passengers from Taiwan (China), Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, the Middle East and Turkey, back home.

This information was released by the Ministry of Transport on Monday.

On January 31, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính requested the ministry to urgently permit foreign airlines carrying stranded Vietnamese citizens home, and issue related guidance.

The ministry sent a document to the Civil Aviation Authority of Việt Nam to coordinate to urgently issue permits for airlines to transport Vietnamese citizens back home, especially from areas where many Vietnamese are still stranded. — VnExpress News
