NA Standing Committee’s 35th session concludes

Full-time legislators gave opinions on the organisation of the NA forum on supreme supervision activities, reviewed outcomes of the 7th session of the 15th NA, which took place from May 20 to June 29, and discussed preparations for the 8th sitting.

HÀ NỘI — The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee wrapped up its 35th session in Hà Nội on Thursday after one and a half days of sitting, fulfilling its set agenda.

Closing the session, NA Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn said the committee considered and approved three resolutions on the organisational structure of military procuracy agencies; and two others on supplements to the regular State budget expenditure estimates for 2024 of the ministries of national defence and public security, and adjustments to the mid-term public investment plans funded by the central budget in the 2021-25 period of ministries, central agencies and localities.

He asked relevant agencies to maintain their close coordination to quickly perfect the documents, which will be submitted to the top legislator for issuance.

They also looked into a report on the legislature’s ombudsman work in May and June.

Mẫn stressed the huge workload for the NA Standing Committee until the end of the third quarter, including four meetings from now to September, and external activities by the NA Chairman and deputy chairpersons, urging the Government to promptly send related dossiers and documents to NA agencies based on the planned agendas of the meetings.

According to Secretary General of the NA and Chairman of its Office Bùi Văn Cường, the 8th session of the 15th legislature is scheduled from October 21 to November 28, during which 11 draft laws are expected to be approved, and 12 others scrutinised.

In case the draft amended Electricity Law is well prepared and meets necessary conditions, it would be considered for ratification, he noted. — VNS
