Do we have to apply sunscreen on clear and cold days? (Ngan, 13, Long An)
Answer:
Sunscreen is still necessary on cold days, even when you are bundled up from head to toe. It cannot be replaced by any other item.
UV radiation penetration still affects our skin even when the sky is clear and the temperature is low.

It is advised to choose sunscreens with the SPF of 30 or higher and are water-resistant. Apply the sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going out and re-apply at least every three hours, or after swimming or sweating.
You are also more likely to get sunburn when engaging in outdoor activities because of being directly exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Therefore, along with sunscreen, actively seeking for shades and wearing sunblock clothes – for example wide-brimmed hats, long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and sunglasses – are also advised.
The above mentioned suggestions should be applied for all skin types and colors.
