A South Korean plastic manufacturer inside a Bac Ninh industrial park went up in flames Thursday, resulting in around 4,000 m2 of workshop being burned down.
The fire at the Esd Korea Vina Co. inside the Que Vo Industrial Park in the northern province began at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
Minh Trong, who works at a nearby company, said that he heard screams while he was on his night shift. When he went out to look, he saw several workers running away.
“The fire was only at a small corner of the warehouse at first, but covered the entire workshop after 20 minutes,” Trong said. “Columns of smoke were dozens of meters high.” He added that it was windy at the time, causing the fire to spread more quickly.
Over 100 firefighters and 14 firefighting trucks were dispatched to the scene to put out the flames. By 8 a.m., black smoke was still billowing from the center of the factory. Firefighters tried to approach the site from all sides to put the fire under control.
The entire workshop area was totally burned down, with its tin roof distorted due to the heat and every product inside destroyed. No one was injured in the fire.
