Videos of people competing in the ‘Made You Look’ challange on TikTok and other platforms have been raking up millions of views in Vietnam.
The challange is inspired by the lyrics of the Meghan Trainer song “Made You Look.” The goal is to inspire viewers to “look” by showcasing styles inspired by luxury brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Versace.
“The makeup challenge and song were all over my TikTok feed, so I tried to give my take on it,” said participater and online user Chloe Nguyen.
Many TikTokers, especially young people persuing careers in makeup and fashion, have hopped on the bandwagon with the hashtag #madeyoulook. Most particpants present four different styles each designed to generate a unique “wow” reaction.
Although each #madeyoulook video only lasts a few moments, most have taken TikTokers hours and even days to complete.

Truong Ba Huynh Linh, 25, who teaches makeup in Da Nang, did the #madeyoulook challenge and amassed over a million views on TikTok.
Linh said she participated because she was impressed by other videos and liked the catchy melody of “Made You Look.”
“I saw so many people jump flawlessly on this challenge so I had to make a video myself,” she added.
“To make this million-view clip, I spent nine hours on makeup and cleansing,” Linh continued.
“I received lots of positive feedback from people, and also some polite and contructive criticisms.”
The videos begin on a model with no makeup and then users swipe to transform the faces in the bright shining creations of the challange.
Vo Nguyen Duy An, an 18-year-old content creator, didn’t pass up the challenge. She said her clip lasts less than 30 seconds, but she spent 3 days prepping.
“After makeup, shooting the clips and choosing nice angles, I spent two more hours editing,” she said. “Although it’s just for fun, I still want everything to be flawless.”

Before shooting, An spent time researching makeup styles created by famous artists and designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Versace and Gucci.
“In makeup, creativity is highly appreciated and encouraged,” she said. “[The challange] helps me improve my makeup skills and shape my own style so that people will remember more of me.”
