Taiwan-invested shoemaker Pouyuen Vietnam will have 20,000 workers in Ho Chi Minh City work on alternative days because of production affected by insufficient orders.
A company announcement said that due to order issues affecting production plans, workers from certain workshops would need to work alternative days from December 1 to February 20 next year, local media reported.
With such a timeline, workers would have 14 days off in total during this period.
The company would pay workers VND180,000 ($7.25) a day during their days off.
The HCMC Federation of Labor said around 20,000 workers would work with the new schedule.
Pouyuen Vietnam has the most populated workplace in HCMC with over 50,000 workers.
