Vietjet Air has become the first Vietnamese carrier to operate direct flights to India’s commercial hub, Mumbai.
It flies four times a week from HCMC and three times from Hanoi.
The only Vietnamese carrier to fly to India, it already has services to New Delhi, the capital.
India was one of Vietnam’s growing tourism markets before the pandemic, with the growth in number of visitors rising from 19.9 percent in 2015 to 28 percent in 2019, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
India suspended international flights since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and only resumed them at the end of March this year.
