Thai sepak takraw team go on Hanoi tour

The Thai sepak takraw team, winners of the gold medal at the ongoing SEA Games, visited Hanoi tourist attractions Wednesday in a double-decker bus.

The bus departed at 10 a.m., taking them to the Hanoi Opera House, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hoa Lo Prison, and the Temple of Literature.

Pairoj Archarungroj, the team head, expressed joy at returning to Hanoi and said he is impressed by its beautiful streets and modern skyscrapers.

“I miss Hanoi cuisine such as pho. This trip is an interesting experience after days of intense training and competition.”

After the games, he plans to travel to Da Nang with his family.

Head coach Veeras Na Nongkhai said this was his first time in Hanoi and was surprised that life seemed to have returned to normal after Covid-19.

“Hanoi’s streets are full of green trees and clean and beautiful, the weather is cool. Tourist attractions and streets we passed by were crowded. What positive energy!”

Team member Jirasak Pakbuangoen thanked hosts Vietnam for their welcome and friendliness.

Hanoi is offering free tours of the city to athletes, coaches and foreign reporters attending the SEA Games.
