The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has signed an agreement to promote Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism image among Europeans.
“The full reopening of international tourism from March 15 is the best news that European businesses have been waiting for the past two years,” said Alain Cany, chairman of EuroCham.
EuroCham also hailed the Vietnamese government’s efforts in resuming a visa policy for foreign tourists as well as European investors.
Under the agreement signed with the municipal Department of Tourism on Monday, EuroCham would support HCMC in promoting its tourism image to the European community and bring visitors to the city as Vietnam reopens inbound tourism.
EuroCham would also help HCMC to develop MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) and cuisine tourism to turn the city into a leading attraction among Europeans.
HCMC hopes to receive 25 million domestic and 3.5 million foreign tourists this year.
Its tourism sector has a revenue target of VND97.7 trillion ($4.3 billion).
HCMC received over 8.6 million foreign visitors in 2019, or nearly half the total foreign arrivals in Vietnam.
