Four individuals in Gia Lai Province have been accused of desecrating graves to steal and sell aluminum frames from the deceased’s photos.
Nguyen Tan Phat, Hoang Vu Bao, and Tran Minh Tu, all aged 18, were detained by Pleiku City police on Tuesday for theft. Another suspect, Nguyen Quang Huy, remains at large.
The four targeted a cemetery in Pleiku on Monday night, searching for graves with aluminum-encased photos to remove and sell the frames to scrap dealers.
The group was caught in the act while tampering with around 20 graves, though Huy managed to escape.
At the police station, the suspects confessed to having disturbed over 100 graves.
