3 killed as passenger bus rams stationary truck in central Vietnam

A sleeping bus crashed into the back of a parked truck in Quang Nam Province early Tuesday, leaving three passengers dead and 16 others wounded.

The Phuong Trang company bus was going with 30 passengers from the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong to Thua Thien-Hue Province on National Highway 1.

It was in Nui Thanh District in Quang Nam, at around 2 a.m., that it rammed into the truck, which was parked for workers to unload bricks.

Three passengers were confirmed dead at the scene.

It was not raining and the street lights were on, and the stretch of the highway had six lanes, making the accident inexplicable.

The site of the accident is three kilometers from where a 16-seat passenger bus and tractor collided on Feb. 14, killing the driver and nine passengers.
