25 kg python enters HCMC home

A reticulated python three meters long and weighing 25 kilograms was caught after entering a house in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Phu District on Saturday.

The python was eventually released to the wild by HCMC Forest Protection Department.

Le Thi Cam Nhung, 39, discovered it lying on her home’s toilet a few days prior. Dozens of police officers were dispatched to the scene to remove the python.

“The python was big and very strong; it took six people to get it out. Luckily it did not attack me and my son,” Nhung said.

Police said the python might have escaped from an enclosure before entering the house.

The reticulated python (Python reticulatus), among the few snakes that prey on humans, is forbidden to be hunted and used in Vietnam. It is among the world’s longest snakes. A full-grown one can be as long as seven meters.
