The VnExpress Marathon Hue’s race routes will take runners through the ancient center, romantic suburbs and modern urban areas of the former imperial city.
The organizers of VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue 2023 on Wednesday revealed the official running routes, will all four distances of 5, 10, 21 and 42 km granted international standard quality by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
The 10 km route has been adjusted from the previous season.

10,000 runners will start at 3 a.m. on April 16, passing by ancient monuments such as Phu Van Lau, the Hue Citadel, Truong Tien Bridge, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for Gifted Students, and Pedagogical University, then proceed toward the urban areas.
The start line of all four distances is at the intersection of Le Duan and Nguyen Trai streets. The finish lines will be at the two gates at the intersection of To Huu – Ha Huy Tap streets, one for runners of 5 and 10 km distances, and the other for runners of 21 and 42 km distances.
The two finishing points and the start line are about 3 km apart.

Runners of 5 km distance will run on shady grove roads through the Hue Citadel and Truong Tien Bridge, across the Huong River.

The 10 km route, with a newly-designed track this year, will cover three bridges Phu Xuan, Da Vien, and Truong Tien. This route will showcase an ancient image of Hue when passing by Le Huan, Dang Thai Than, and Doan Thi Diem streets.

Runners of 21 km distance will explore an entire complex of the Hue Citadel when running across Le Duan, Nguyen Van Linh, and Dinh Tien Hoang streets, then head to Ba Trieu, Le Quy Don, and Hung Vuong streets to reach the finish line on To Huu street.
The first half of 42 km distance will cover the same route as the half marathon, and the rest will turn into Tu Duc, Vo Van Kiet streets, and EcoGarden urban area.

To ensure the safety and comfort of the participants, the organizers will set up 12 water stations, 6 two-way water refill stations, 11 medical stations, and 4 ambulance stations.
This year, the number of mobile toilets will increase by 5 times compared to the previous season.
