VnExpress Marathon HCMC Midnight to cross two Thu Thiem bridges

VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight, taking place on the night of Feb 11, 2023, will take 10,000 runners through sleepless roads in the city center.
All four distances will start from Truong Dinh Street, in front of Tao Dan Park, one of the largest parks in HCMC with an area of about 10 hectares. Known as a “green lung” of the city, the park is home to giant trees, some more than 20 meters tall.

Tao Dan Park with a history of over 100 years is surrounded by the Labor Culture Palace, Nguyen Du Gymnasium, and many hotels, restaurants, cafes, parking lots.

Tao Dan park is a popular place for people to do exercises.

The running route includes famous inner-city routes such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Le Duan, Dong Khoi, Ton Duc Thang…, mostly one-way streets.
The organizers of VnExpress Marathon have worked with traffic police and volunteers to separate lanes and block roads on the race day.

The Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on Dong Khoi Street will be a highlight of the race.
The course will also lead runners past a series of landmarks including the Independence Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Bach Dang Wharf, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street.

Runners of four distances will run along Bach Dang Wharf on Ton Duc Thang Street, District 1.

Bach Dang Wharf, about 3 km from the start line, is a well-known place for both local residents and tourists.

Participants will enjoy the beauty of the city with a view of skyscrapers and luxury apartments sparkling at night.

The Thu Thiem and Ba Son bridges (formerly known as Thu Thiem 2) will be challenges for runners in three distances 10, 21 and 42km.
Ba Son Bridge, a new symbol of Ho Chi Minh City, is nearly 1.5 km long, and has a 113 m tower, and a lighting system that is expected to be completed by the end of this year. From here, visitors can zoom in on a panoramic view of District 1, Thu Thiem peninsula or Landmark 81, the highest building in Vietnam.

Thu Thiem Bridge is about 1.2 km long, connecting Thu Duc City and Binh Thanh District. After conquering Thu Thiem peninsula, runners will run over this bridge, which will be a test of strenght and endurance.

The finish line of VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight is on Le Duan Street, right in front of the Zoo and Botanical Garden.
