VN-Index sinks to 11-week low


Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index plunged 2.4% to 1,174.35 points Monday, lowest since July 11.

The index closed 28.9 points lower after losing 11.4 points on Friday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 55.43% to VND17.55 trillion ($739.82 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 27 tickers dropped.

VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail plunged 6.5% to the lowest in four weeks.

CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank dipped 6% to the lowest since June 21.

Other losers included SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation, KDH of real estate firm Khang Dien House and POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation.

Only two blue chips gained: VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank, up 1.1%, and GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas, up 1%.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND558.43 billion.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 3.31% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 2.16%.
