Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.96% to 1149.02 points Monday, a new peak this year.
The index closed 10.95 points higher after gaining 11.85 points on Friday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 11.58% to VND18.41 trillion ($778.19 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 23 tickers gain.
PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development gained 6.9%, followed by BID of state-owned lender BIDV with a 6% increase.
MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World closed 4.9% higher and SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation went up 4%.
Four blue chips fell.
VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank lost 2.2% and SAB of brewer Sabeco went down 0.5%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND350.26 billion, mainly selling KDC of food producer KIDO Group and PVD of PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 1.13% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up by 0.67%.
