VN-Index gains nearly 4 points


Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rose 0.40% to 985.59 points Wednesday, up by nearly 4 points.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 0.19% to VND10.39 trillion ($417.82 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 19 tickers gain.

POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation led with a 3.8% rise, followed by BID of state-owned lender BIDV, up 3.6%.

CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank gained 2.5%, and PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex went up 2.3%.

Other gainers included HDB of HDBank, MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World and GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group.

Eleven blue chips fell, with NVL of real estate developer Novaland Group and PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development both losing 6.9%.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND566.85 billion, mainly buying VHM of property giant Vinhomes and PVS of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.81% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.11%.
