VN-Index drops 3 points


Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 0.25% to 1,277.35 points Monday, losing 3.16 points after the holiday break.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 5.51% to VND13.4 trillion ($569 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 21 tickers dropped.

MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World fell 2%.

VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank lost 1.8%, and VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank dropped 1.7%.

Other losers were VPB of private lender VPBank, down 1.6%, and BID of state-owned lender BIDV, down 1.3%.

Six blue chips gained, led by HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group with a 3.9% rise.

VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk rose 2.6%, and BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings gained 1.9%.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND402.35 billion, mainly selling NVL of real estate developer Novaland Group and VCB.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.31% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.71%.
