The PM said that Vietnam will contribute to peace, not to use and threaten to use nuclear weapons, respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensure security of food, energy, and people.

Chinh called on all parties involved to resolve conflicts through dialogue and negotiation, to find long-term solutions, taking into account the legitimate interests of all parties. Chinh stated that Vietnam does not take sides but chooses justice and equality.

According to the PM, the values of trust, sincerity and sense of responsibility have been consistently demonstrated by Vietnam through the foreign affair policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and multilateralisation.

On regional issues, PM Chinh hopes that the international community and partners will support ASEAN’s role in building regional peace, stability, cooperation and resilience. The nations need to strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and move towards achieving a substantive and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea in accordance with international law, especially the UN’s Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS).

The PM also asked the parties to exercise restraint and not take actions that would complicate the situation and violate the sovereignty, rights and jurisdiction of related countries established by UNCLOS.
