Vietnamese designer’s transparent creations hit London Fashion Week

On the evening of Sept. 16, the Spring Summer 2023 collection was unveiled in the quaint setting of 114-year-old The Waldorf Hilton London. Tran Hung mixed and matched many high-quality fabrics and colors to create 39 different outfits.

The collection boasts many see-through designs for both men and women. Huong Ly, Top 5 Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 and 2022, struts down the runway in a bustier gown embellished with shimmering floral designs.

The designer used mikado silk, taffeta, organza and chiffon, which are eco-friendly and reusable materials.

Some of the unisex sheer tops feature hand-embroidered and beaded flower designs.

Asymmetry, a popular global style, is used on strapless bras and see-through party outfits.

Jewelry and accessories are kept to a minimum in order to accentuate each design.

Female models wore platform shoes, which are a popular style this year, while male models wear slippers with wide leather straps.

Hoang Dung, 2017 Miss Ao Dai, was picked as the vedette of the show. She wore a feather evening gown paired with limited edition Chanel jewelry and Aquazzura shoes.

Tran Hung (C) appeared at the end of the show, greeting the audience. He was born in northern Yen Bai Province in 1988 and rose to fame after finishing second in Project Runway 2015.
He has launched four fashion collections in the last four years and has participated in designing for children at Vietnam Junior Fashion Week 2019. The designer favors a romantic style, fusing Asian and European influences with hand-embroidered techniques on silk, organza, and other fabrics.
Many of his ensembles have been featured in prominent fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle.
